Quilts of Valour

Good afternoon Ladies:
These are the two Quilts of Valour that will be offered to individual Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans to thank them for their service.  Hopefully they will provide comfort and relief to those who may need it. We owe a huge thank you to Nancy and Dorinda for spear heading this initiative as a contribution from our Guild.
Nancy arranged her Log Cabin Blocks along with those that were crafted by other members of the Guild to form an impressive “Quilt topper” in addition to making a presentation bag from extra blocks.  Ms. Joanne Swanson of Pictou is the recognized Quilter.  Dorinda prepared the Labels which indicated our Guild Name and location.
Dorinda, fashioned her own Log Cabin Quilt “topper” with blocks she composed.  It was quilted by Mira Stitch’in Post.  This Quilt was also sent as a contribution from the Guild.  Impressive Dorinda.
The two quilts were picked up on July 20th, 2020 by Ronda, for presentation to Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans.
We the Executive wish to thank all who participated in this venture.  It was a wonderful act of kindness and compassion by a group of ladies who are known as “Quilters”.

Ryan’s Case for Smiles

2020 and the pandemic are providing  both challenges and opportunities!  Life does go on, and children continue to become ill or injured, requiring hospitalization.  Thanks to the enthusiastic participation in last year’s Miles of Pillowcase Smiles (MOPS), 851 delightful pillowcases have been delivered to our 8 hospitals where children receive care, as well as Ronald McDonald House.  Feedback from families and staff has been very positive.

Can we count on your support this year?  Please forward the attached poster to your members.  Because of the pandemic, guidelines include isolating the laundered and packaged pillowcases for two weeks before they are collected for delivery to the hospitals.

Thank you for creating smiles, “helping kids FEEL better to HEAL better”.
